Is there a good or safe way to remove asbestos that insulates pipes leading from your boiler / heater?
Question by patchouli: Is there a good or safe way to remove asbestos that insulates pipes leading from your boiler / heater?
I know you have to have a company in hazmat suits come out and they seal the area off and work with a machine that draws in the air and fibers, but isn’t there still some residue in the air and on things that can be dangerous? I’m worried I should sell the house and not live here myself during or after the renovation. I’m worried about mesothelioma… lung cancer from inhaling bits of asbestos. So far, I’ve just not touched the asbestos… hoping not stirring it up would be safer, but now I have problems with my boiler and will have to have it replaced, which means dealing with the asbestos problem. sigh.
Q&A: Is witholding pain meds to an inmate that has cancer a form of torture and against the constatution?
Question by lillymb06@att.net: Is witholding pain meds to an inmate that has cancer a form of torture and against the constatution?
I have an uncle that has Mesothelioma cancer and happens to be an inmate at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina. He recently called me and told me something disturbing. He says he gets severe pains all over his chest and it runs to his legs, hes asked several times for help and one night the pain was so bad that he screamed and cried for help including his fellow inmates protested to the nurse in charge but the nurse in charge just mocked him! and said ” oh hes just another inmate ” and didn’t do anything to help him. The doctor attending him also ignores his pleas for help and sends another male nurse to flip him over and put a morphine patch on him once in a while. Once that male nurse flipped him over so hard, he dropped my uncle off the bed and just left him there on the floor, mind you my uncle can no longer move. My uncle also speaks very little english and says he and his other spanish speaking friends get treated very differently in a bad way.I mean isn’t treating a sick dying man in severe pain like this some form of torture?!! i don’t know what to do to help him or get an investigation going? please anyone if you have any advice or guidance for me, please do help.

First of all, I want to caution you that inmates make these kind of accusations all the time because there is almost no way to prove it and they think they can win a lot of money from the state. Now that said, and assuming your uncle is telling the truth, the first question I would ask is what is the length of time between your uncle’s medications. Some medications, especially pain medications, need to be held back for a certain amount of time to avoid having the patient becoming addicted to the medication.
